The 44 Carrier Bag is directly inspired by tote bag sold to the public for only 3 months in 1944.  A famed Maine outdoor outfitter produced the original version at the height of WW2 and offered it for sale in a singular season mail order catalog .  It is unknown if the bag was discontinued due to war time material shortages....

Having obtained the only known example of the original, I immediately knew that subtle, but interesting design elements and utility of the bag would resonate 73 years later.

The lower slung, wider dimensions lend itself well to day to day use. The extra wide handles are easy to grip, the imbedded rope edge give the upper edge more strength.
